What is a Backup Profile
and how I can create one?
In order to create a backup some vital information is needed such as the SOURCE and DESTINATION, how often this backup will be executed, the type of backup (ZIP, direct copy, etc), all this information is saved on a file, “[Profile’s name].bak”, and ABS called this file a profile. Multiples profiles can be created, and then the user can decide which profile will be enabled.
To create a profile …
Yes the profiles can be executed manually; there are 2 places where this can be done from the Main screen and from the configuration screen.
Run Backup Profile from
Run Backup from Configuration Screen
Step 1 Left Click on the dropdown and
select one profile (omit this step if the run button is NOT grayed out).
Right click on the backup profile list and select the desired operation delete/rename.
ABS was designed to work on demand or using the scheduler, this can be toggle enabling each profile with a check mark, ABS will not run a profile if the profile hasn’t a check mark enabled. If a any given Backup profile is not desired/intended to be active or processed you will have to take out of the schedule, just clear the check mark next to the profile.
Yes and NO, Clicking on "RUN" button at ABS Main Screen will run all profiles regardless of the scheduler, just have in mind only enabled profiles will be processed (check mark enabled), or in other words all the profiles with the scheduler on, ABS will not run for those that the checkmark is missing, the user will have to run this manually or enable a checkmark next to the profile.
Step 1 click on Run (only 3 profiles
will be executed)
ABS will keep an individual log for each backup profile; this log will grow up to 2Mbytes and then will be flushed and created a new one. The main screen will display a log of events, but this log will have all the history of events and backups for all the profiles.
ABS by default will not start when windows start, this was left up to the user. To enable this…
Step 1 right click on the taskbar and select “Start when win starts”
Can I restore the backed up data?
ABS is not capable to backup up data to any other device than hard drives on the local machine, remote machine or in any other shared drive.
